Statement of Faith

We believe:

  1. In the verbal inspiration of the original scriptures
2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

  2. In the absolute trinity of the eternal God-head
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

  3. In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ
John 10:30 I and [my] Father are one…
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

  4. In the personality and the deity of the Holy Spirit
John 14:26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

  5. In the reality and the personality of the Devil
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

  6. In the natural depravity of the human race
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God
Isaiah 64:6 - But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousness [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

  7. In the substitutionary atonement
Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

  8. In the propitiation for sin only by the blood of Christ
Romans 3:25 - Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God

  9. In the full salvation by grace through faith and not of works
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

  10. In the divine healing through the atonement and prayer for the sick
1 Peter 2:24 who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
James 5:15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.

  11. In the personal baptism of the Holy Spirit
Matthew 3:11 - I indeed baptise you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire
Acts 4:31 - And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

  12. In the necessity of the new birth
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

  13. In water baptism by immersion at an age of accountability
Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

  14. In the true church composed of all blood washed believers
Acts 2:47 And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
Heb 12:22-24 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

  15. In the evangelism of the heathen and the nations of the world
Mark 16:15 And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”

  16. In the command of sexual purity, that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other.
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
    1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behaviour, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God.

  17. In obedience to civil government
Romans 13:1-5 - Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Titus 3:1 - Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work

  18. In divorce only on New Testament scriptural grounds
Matthew 5:32 But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.

  19. In church government, loyalty and obedience to those in authority over us in the Lord
Hebrews 13:17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

  20. In tithing as God’s financial plan
Mal 3:10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

  21. In the restitution for past wrongs whenever possible
Luke 19:7 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, ‘Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.
Exodus 22:1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

  22. In the open table with self-examination at the Lord’s Supper
1 Corinthians 11:27-29 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.  For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body

  23. In the maintenance of good works and holy living
Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

  24. In the victorious life over sin, self and bad habits by Bible study and a prayer life.
Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Ephesians 6:17-18  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

  25. In the Creator who wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
These two distinct complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.  Human sexuality is determined by God at birth. (As evidenced by biological realities such as the XX and XY chromosomes in each person’s DNA).

  26. In Christian perfection and holiness, through absolute surrender and consecration.
Romans 12:2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 Cor 7:1 therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

  27. In Christian modesty in matters of dress and wearing apparel
1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel
1 Peter 3:3-4 Do not let your adornment be merely outward — arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel —  rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

  28. In the keeping of the Lord’s Day as a matter of privilege rather than law.
Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holiday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days

  29. In regards to recreation – liberty of conscience and a Godly example to the world.
1 Thess 5:21-22  Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.

  30. In the sanctity of marriage: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.
Genesis 2:18  And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
Matthew 19:4-6 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

  31. In the immortality and conscious existence of the soul
Genesis 2:7 - And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
1 Peter 1:9 receiving the end of your faith — the salvation of your souls.

  32. In the resurrection of our literal bodies, the just and the unjust.
1 Cor 15:42-44 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonour, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.  It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.”[b] The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
Acts 24:15-16 I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.

  33. In a literal heaven and life everlasting for all true believers
Matthew 5:12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

  34. In a final day of judgement for the incorrigible wicked
Rev 20:11-12 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

  35. In the everlasting punishment of the impenitent
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

  36. In the personal, literal, bodily pre-millennial coming of Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 - For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Acts 1:10-11 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

  37. In a future, literal 1000 year reign of Christ on earth with His Saints
Rev 20:1-6  Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.  And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

  38. In the judgement seat of Christ where the saints will be finally rewarded for their deeds of commission and omission.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

  39. In Christian tolerance to all the denominations of Christian faith “In essentials unity; in non-essentials liberty; in all things charity.
Ephesians 4:3-6 endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

  40. In order to preserve the function and integrity of the Charity as a local Body of Christ and to provide a biblical role model to the members of the Congregation and the community persons employed on a salary basis by the Church in any capacity must agree to and abide by this Statement of Faith.
1 Cor 1:10  Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

  41. In redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
1 John 1:9-10  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
Rom 10:9-10  that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

  42. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, respect and dignity.
Luke 6:31   And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.
Mark 12:28-31  Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?"  Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.'  here is no other commandment greater than these."
